Monday, August 11, 2025

Dr. Justin Alexander, Assistant Professor of Higher Education, has been selected as the faculty-in-residence within the Commission for Global Dimensions of Student Development (CGDSD) for the American College Personnel Association (ACPA).

ACPA is among the nation’s oldest professional associations for student affairs and higher education professionals.  In Dr. Alexander’s role with CGDSD, he will support the mission of the commission to advance international education and cross-cultural competencies for higher education professionals. He will also serve on a committee organizing the International Colloquium at the ACPA Annual Convention from March 30 to April 2, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland.

The commission is a vital hub for ACPA members dedicated to cross-cultural learning, intercultural competency development, internationalization efforts, and global student services. Dr. Alexander joins a distinguished network of higher education professionals who create and facilitate international dialogue and collaboration while developing educational resources on study abroad programs, global service-learning, and student affairs internationalization efforts.

Dr. Alexander has supported engagement for several years with the Caribbean program for the Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership in Higher Education. He has successfully served as a dissertation chair to many international doctoral students and is currently leading a multi-site research study of international students in synchronous online graduate programs. These efforts support the DSU broader mission to develop engaged global citizens.
