Meet the Staff

Dr. Bill H. Means, Director

Dr. Bill H. MeansDr. Means has over 20 years experience in the career development field. His experience has included positions at Johnson C. Smith University, Livingstone College, Wake  Forest  University School of Medicine, INROADS/Charlotte, Inc, Queens University of Charlotte and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Means has earned a BS in Psychology from Tennessee State University, a MA in Adult/Higher Education from North Carolina A&T State University and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from The  University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His memberships have included, 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc., NASPA and NACE. He is a former board member of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. He hails from Charlotte, North Carolina and has one son, Burton Means.

Ryane Cheatham, EBMS, Career Coach

Specializing in career counseling, resume writing, mock interviewing, job search strategies, career fair organizer, employer relations and graduate school preparation

Ryane Cheatham is currently the Career Coach at Delaware State University. She is a 2012 graduate of Delaware State University with a Bachelors in Music Business and a  Masters in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. Ryane has worked for Delaware State University since 2013 in Conferences and Events and has recently been  promoted to Career Coach in the Office of Career Services. Ryane is member of the Dover Chapter of the Lion’s Club International.

Adrienne Clarke, Student Employee Coordinator

Adrienne ClarkeResponsible for posting jobs on campus through Handshake, assisting students with campus job searches, processing student employment paperwork, facilitating student employment orientations and training campus supervisors to use Handshake.

Ms. Adrienne Clarke joined Delaware State University on June 2017 in the Student Employment Office as the Student Employee Coordinator. A native of Tidewater, VA and a graduate of Norfolk State University with a Bachelors in Fashion Merchandising. Fashion was a love and passion for Ms. Clarke, however she eventually moved to Maryland to attend Bowie State University to complete a Master’s in Human Resources Development. While working on finishing her degree, she also taught Fashion Design and Interior Design for PG County Public School for four years. Human Resources then became her focus and eventually she had to move on and work for Kaiser Permanente. Ms. Clarke worked for Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic Non-profit Health Care organization for five years gaining HR experience and Customer service skills. In 2014 and 2015 Ms. Clarke married and had her first child. She decided to stay home until her child was one year of age. In 2016, Ms. Clarke was presented with a challenge to work with a blind high school student to make sure she graduated. When working with the blind student it taught her even more things about herself. The young student graduated and the love for students and education soon became a pivotal pursuit in her career goals which has now landed her at Delaware State University.

Jacqueline C. Hendy, Administrative Secretary

Jacqueline C. HendyJacqueline Hendy joined Delaware State University in March 2016 and has over 20 years of vast customer service in major companies, such as Moody’s Investors, Verizon Corporation, and American Express. Jacqueline was born and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina but was reared and educated in New York City. She earned her Bachelors of  Business Administration in Marketing from Bernard Baruch College in 1998. Prior to joining Delaware State University, Mrs. Hendy worked as a front desk receptionist for Pure Wellness Chiropractor and a Lounge Host for Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. She relocated from New York to Delaware in 2008 with her husband and 2 children.

Rena’e Love, STEM Career Specialist

Specializing in career counseling resume writing, pre-health professions and graduate school advising, mock interviewing, job search strategies, event planning &  employer relations

Rena’e Love joined the Career Services team in December 2017, and comes with over 15 years’ experience within the Life Science industry.  After graduating from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Rena’e worked as a Technical Support Specialist at Dynal Biotech Inc. in New York.  While working, she pursued her Master of Business Administration at the New York Institute of Technology.  Once complete with her studies, Rena’e worked for the Biotechnology Innovation Organization in Washington, DC, for ~10 years, performing a variety of roles in customer service, product development, program and relationship management services within the Business Development team.  Never one to pass up an opportunity for growth and challenge, Rena’e decided to switch careers and teach elementary school for two years prior to moving to Delaware in June 2017. 

In her personal time, Rena’e enjoys spending time with her family and church, cooking, and working out.

Marcus Smith, Internship Coordinator

Specializing in employer relations, developing internship search strategies for students, locating internship opportunities, assisting students with internship applications and metrics

Marcus Smith is currently the Internship Coordinator at Delaware State University. He is a 2015 graduate of Delaware State University with a Bachelors in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations & Advertising. He has worked for Delaware State University since 2018, in the Office of Career Services. Prior to working at Delaware State University, Marcus worked as an Admissions Specialist, including assisting students with internship placements in the non-profit sector. Marcus is passionate about helping students build their professional careers, boasting more than two years of experience in marketing, project management, and career development. In his free time, Marcus enjoys going to art shows, researching economic trends, and watching basketball.
