Hornet Days

Are you still trying to figure out which college to attend, but you’re unsure where to begin? Well, look no further! High school seniors and transfer students are invited to get to know Delaware State University by joining us for Hornet Days, available in virtual and in-person formats.

For eligible high school seniors in Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and DC, we’ll pick you up and bring you to DSU! Just click on the List of Pick-Up Locations to find the bus stop nearest you, RSVP online, get your Permission Slip signed and submitted to us (before the published deadline) and we’ll see you soon! (Please note: Bus transportation is provided for high school seniors only, not for parents or chaperones.)

What Are Hornet Days?

Hornet Days are designed to give high school seniors and transfer students who meet the University’s admissions requirements the opportunity to see what it’s like to be a student at Delaware State University.

IN PERSON: Current high school seniors in DE, DMV, NJ, NY, and PA will have a chance to spend the day with students, learn about co-curricular activities, take a tour of our expanding campus and have lunch in our dining facilities. Most importantly, you will have a chance to meet admissions counselors who will inform you of our admissions procedures, scholarship and financial aid opportunities. There may even be an opportunity for you to be accepted on the spot if you meet all entrance requirements (please see the section below on applying in advance).

VIRTUAL: High school seniors on the East Coast outside of the mid-Atlantic region, Midwest, South and West Coast and all transfer students are invited to join us virtually to meet our admissions counselors and learn more about scholarship and financial aid opportunities; get to know our faculty, staff and student leaders; and hear from some of our student organizations.

  1. See the list of locations where we will be picking students up in your area. Please select the date associated with your state/classification. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the departure time to allow time for the check-in process. The buses will depart on time so that you may arrive at DSU on time. We don’t want you to miss anything!
  2. Complete the web form to register (* indicates required fields). You will be directed to a permission slip page to download the permission slip while you are submitting your registration.
  3. Download, print and complete the permission slip, which requires your high school guidance counselor/administrator to provide a recommendation and your parents to sign a code of conduct agreement. Fax it back to us at 302.857.6352. Note: The completed permission slip MUST be received by DSU 7 days prior to your event if you plan to attend Hornet Days. You will not be allowed on the bus if we have not received your completed permission slip.

Please note: For your safety and to promote a safe and healthy campus community, COVID-19 protocols will be in effect for the in-person events.

  1. It is recommended that you take a rapid COVID-19 test 1-2 days prior to the event and bring the results with you.
  2. A health screening will be conducted prior to boarding the bus including temperature checks.
  3. KN95 or surgical masks will be required on the bus and in designated indoor and outdoor areas on campus (cloth masks will not be permitted). If you don’t bring a mask, one will be provided.
