Dates and Deadlines

Starting 2026 - 2027, the ALEKS Placement Test codes and credentials will ONLY be sent to students who have accepted their admissions offers and committed to the University. Please expect communication with codes and credentials a month or two before classes start. Please note that this change does not require New first-year students to have their ALEKS score or tests done before New Student Orientation (NSO). Advisers will have a math placeholder till your test is taken and completed, then your schedule will be corrected before classes start with the appropriate math class based on your ALEKS Score.

All students who have accepted their admissions offers and committed to the University should expect communication from their Academic Advisor or the Office of Student Success Orientation Team, with the credentials needed to take their assessment. If your academic year Class Code and credentials have not been sent over two weeks before your Semester or Classes start, please reach out to StudentSuccess [at] desu.edu for support.

It is mandatory for ALL NEW STUDENTS to complete the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment at least TWO WEEKS before classes begin. Failure to take the ALEKS math assessment prior to those two weeks may result in the removal of placeholder classes as well as incomplete schedules.

* NOTE: ALEKS is for all new students…Freshmen or Transfer, even those bringing in college credits.  There are no exemptions. This is to ensure that all students are placed in the appropriate math class based on their chosen major
