DSU’s Early Childhood Innovation Center (ECIC) has successfully completed its second full year of improving the quality of childcare in the State of Delaware through its certification and higher education program for childcare providers.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, 14 ECIC DE RISE scholars completed bachelor’s degrees and 18 completed associate’s degrees, both in Early Childhood Education. Another 85 scholars achieved certification as Child Development Associates. The achieving scholars were celebrated and honored during a June 14 ECIC Recognition Ceremony held at Bally’s Dover Resort.

Since the fall of 2023, the ECIC facilitated the degree completion of 45 childcare providers – 23 of whom earned associate degrees and 22 of whom earned bachelor’s degrees. Additionally, over the first two years of the program, the ECIC facilitated the credentialing of 308 childcare scholars who achieved their certification as Child Development Associates (CDA).

The ECIC Program is a joint initiative of the State of Delaware and Delaware State University, which has partnered to enhance childcare capabilities in the First State and provide young Delaware children with the best possible educational start.
