Friday, September 15, 2017

The C-SPAN Bus – an educational vehicle that shares information about the public service cable network – paid a visit to DSU on Sept. 15 to enlighten students about what that non-profit cable network offers.

Parked in front of the MLK Jr. Student Center, the C-SPAN bus invited students on board to learn about the education resources that C-SPAN offers through its website.

“There are 230,000 hours of searchable video in our online video library,” said Joel Bacon, one of the C-SPAN Bus representatives. “We also tell students about the difference about C-SPAN, specifically that we are a nonprofit that is funded by the American cable television industry. We are not funded by commercials or the government.”

C-SPAN broadcasts gavel-to-gavel proceeding of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, as well as other forums where public policy is discussed, debated and decided – reportedly with editing, commentary or analysis and with a balance presentation of points of views.
