HISTORY

Since the establishment of Delaware State University (DSU) on May 15, 1891, the university has shared a rich legacy of service and community engagement that has been woven into its fabric.

In 1952, Mr. Felmon D. Motley, a proud DSU graduate from the class of ‘48,  eloquently captured this spirit when he coined our university’s motto: “May All Who Enter Here, Enter to Learn and Go Forth to Serve.”

This consequential motto serves as a guiding principle for our matriculating students, current alumni, staff, faculty, and DSU’s board of trustees and foundation’s members, inspiring all to make significant contributions to society, no matter where their paths lead them.

PURPOSE

Aligned with this tradition, the inaugural DSU Foundation’s Felmon Motley Community Service Award will serve as a pivotal fundraising event that brings together business leaders, DSU alumni, and friends of the University to honor individuals who truly embody the spirit of our motto “Enter to Learn and Go Forth to Serve” in their everyday lives.

EVENT FEATURE

  • A brief awards presentation recognizing our esteemed honorees, Mrs. Fay Blake from Pathways to Success and Mr. Scott Kammerer from SoDel Concepts
  • Special appearances by DSU President Dr. Tony Allen and Head Football Coach DeSean Jackson
  • A cocktail-style reception inclusive of an open bar, delightful desserts, various food stations, and music

Honoree Criteria

The recipients have been selected for their exceptional community service, demonstrated through their interest and leadership given to many worthwhile organizations, as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues.
