DSU Hosts Community Thrive Workforce and Career Readiness Event
The Delaware State University Wesley College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, in partnership with the Office of Career Services, recently hosted Community Thrive: Workforce & Career Readiness Day, a career readiness event designed to connect community members with workforce resources, professional development opportunities and potential employers, at Capitol Park in Dover.
The event, led by Malik Powell, Internship Coordinator in Career Services, and Dr. Cynthia Newton, Director of Partnerships and Programs for the Wesley College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, brought together students, alumni, community members, employers and workforce development organizations for an afternoon focused on career readiness and workforce development.
Participants took part in interactive sessions on professional attire, elevator pitches, interview preparation and resume development. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect directly with organizations offering employment opportunities, workforce training programs and career resources.

Designed to support individuals at various stages of their professional journey, Community Thrive provided practical tools and guidance to help participants strengthen their job-search skills and build confidence as they pursue career opportunities.
Employers and community partners shared information on available positions, training programs, continuing education opportunities and career pathways, helping attendees better understand the resources available to support their career goals.
Community Thrive reflects Delaware State University’s commitment to preparing students and alumni for success while strengthening connections between the University and the broader community through workforce-focused programming.
The University thanks its community partners, volunteers, faculty, staff and students whose support helped make the event possible.
