Former DSU employee establishes endowed scholarship

Friday, October 12, 2018

A former Delaware State University employee has contributed to the institution’s efforts toward student success by recently establishing a new endowment scholarship.

Eric Hart, a former administrator in the University’s Department of Athletics and the Division of Institutional Advancement, and his father, Harold, aunts, Wanda, Glenda, Lisa, three uncles Ron, Kenny, Brian, and one cousin, Aqauah have established a $10,000 Chester and Ramona Hart Endowed Scholarship, in the name of their parents.

The siblings established the endowment as a lasting tribute to their mother, Ramona, and late father, Chester - Eric and Aqauah’s grandparents as well as a reflection of their appreciation for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Mr. Hart and his sister, Ms. Dana Hart-Raynor presented the check at the Oct. 6 Pre-Game Reception before the North Carolina A&T vs. Delaware State University football game.

Mr. Hart worked at the University from 2009 to 2016 as a Senior Associate Athletic Director of Academics and Ticketing as well as his last two years as a Director of Major Gifts in Institutional Advancement.

“None of the Harts are alumni of Delaware State University,” said Lorene Robinson, Director of Donor Relations. “Yet, their choice to help students attending this University is a poignant and inspirational expression of the saying,: ‘The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit’.”
