Delaware State University’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council recently served as the host institution for the Transform Mid-Atlantic JEDI-CCE Institute where three other institutions participated in a March 2 daylong workshop on advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) on college and university campuses.A group of Delaware State University administrators also took part in the JEDI-CCE Institute.

The workshop – entitled “Creating a Community-Engaged JEDI-Centered Campus Culture: Action Planning and Assessment Progress” – included participants from the University of Baltimore, Goldey Beacon College, Wilmington University as well as Delaware State University.

Held in the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center, the Institute began the day by “framing” the themes of justice, equity diversity, and inclusion, especially where it intersects with civic and community engagement (CCE) and campus-community partnerships. In separate groups, action plans and measurable goals were developed to further the JEDI cause.

The JEDI-CCE Institute was facilitated by Transform Mid-Atlantic, a non-profit membership association of public, private, colleges and universities, including many HBCUs and minority serving institutions. Transform Mid-Atlantic provides leadership to colleges and universities in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Delaware by advocating, supporting, and encouraging institutional participation in academic and co-curricular based public service and civic engagement programs.
