Delaware Today names Dr. Michelle Fisher among Top Nurses 2020

Dr. Michelle Fisher, Director of the Student Health Services at Delaware State University has been recognized by Delaware Today magazine among the Top Nurses of 2020.

Dr. Fisher was named among Delaware Top Nurses in two categories: “Advancing and Leading the Profession” as well as “Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.”

Dr. Fisher has been with the University since 1999, when she arrived as a practitioner nurse of the Student Health Center. She was named Director of the Student Health Center in 2005 and has continued in that leadership capacity to present. She is credited for making the Student Health Center a place where students feel comfortable and confident that they will receive professional health care.

During her 21-year tenure, Dr. Fisher has provided the University professional health leadership during times of health crises such as the H1N1 outbreak of 2009 and the current COVID-19 pandemic. She has worked with student leaders on various health initiatives over the years. She has also served as the University’s primary liaison with the state’s Division of Public Health.

Dr. Fisher also serves as an Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs. In that capacity, she also oversees the Office of Counseling on campus.
