A New Battle of the Colleges Champ – the College of Business

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

The Battle of the Colleges has crowned a new winner – DSU’s College of Business.

The third year of the competition saw the College of Business end the championship reign of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, which won in both 2013 and 2014.  In 2015, the College of Business raised a victorious $17,260.

The College of Business also won the award for having the highest percentage of faculty and staff donors (71%), earning the academic residents of the Bank of America Building an additional cash award of $2,500.

The Battle of the Colleges began in 2013 as an initiative to raise discretionary funds the deans could use to support immediate needs of their colleges.

COB Dean Donna Covington said the college has already put some of the funds to use by assisting a graduating honors student with her remaining balance, which allowed her to participate in the May 17 Commencement Ceremony.

Overall, the 2015 Battle of the Colleges raised $35,699.  The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences finished in second place.  It was followed by College of Agriculture and Related Sciences, the College of Education, Health and Public Policy, and the College of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Technology, respectively.
