DSU President Attends Higher Ed Day at Leg Hall

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

DSU President Harry L. Williams joined the presidents of the University of Delaware and Delaware Technical Community College at Legislative Hall on March 31 for the annual observance of Higher Education Day in the General Assembly.

Dr. Williams, along with outgoing UD President Patrick T. Harker (who has announced his resignation effective June 30 to become the president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia), UD’s incoming interim President Nancy Targett, and Delaware Technical Community College President Mark T. Brainard attended sessions together in both the state House of Representatives and state Senate.

Afterward, the presidents of the three institutions of higher education then met as a group with each of the four General Assembly caucuses.

Speaker of the House Peter C. Schwartzkopf praised the state higher education presidents for their willingness to institutionally work together in a partnership. “It makes things a lot easier for us here in the General Assembly, as well as for the parents and students of the state,” he said.
