Celebrating the Future of Care: The MOT Class of 2026 Pinning Ceremony
The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program at Delaware State University is proud to announce the successful pinning of 14 dedicated students from the Class of 2026. This ceremony marks a pivotal transition from the classroom to the clinic, celebrating the hard work and academic rigor these students have demonstrated throughout their time at Delaware State University.
The “pinning” signifies that these scholars have completed their didactic coursework and are now prepared to embark on their six-month clinical fieldwork. This hands-on phase is the final bridge to becoming licensed practitioners who will impact lives through the art and science of occupational therapy.
The ceremony was a testament to the strong community supporting our students. We were honored to have Dr. Scott-Jones, Dean of Graduate, Adult, & Extended studies and Wesley College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, provide remarks that highlighted the resilience and commitment of this cohort.
The event also featured inspiring addresses from:
· Dr. Brittney Pride, Interim Chairperson for the Department of Public and Allied Health
· Dr. Margaret Gulledge, Interim Program Director for the MOT Program
· Rebecca Webb, SOTA President
· Dennaire Livingston, Philanthropy Chair
The highlight of the afternoon was the keynote address delivered by adjunct professor, Dr. Megan Barton. Her words of wisdom resonated deeply as she spoke on the vital role occupational therapy plays in enhancing health and the overall quality of life for diverse populations.
Prior to the formal pinning, the 14 students shared their research projects, demonstrating their contributions to evidence-based practice and their readiness to tackle modern healthcare challenges.
The MOT Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the families and friends who joined them to celebrate this achievement. Your unwavering support has been the foundation of these students’ success.
Please join the MOT Department in congratulating the Class of 2026 as they head into their clinical rotations!
