Two DSU students selected as Legislative Fellows
Delaware State University’s Trinity Kamami and Brontë E. Pepper-Hicks have been selected as the 2026 Legislative Fellows with the Delaware General Assembly.
The competitive program allows students to actively participate in the legislative process by working alongside state lawmakers and their staff during the 2026 session, gaining invaluable policy experience and professional insight.
“I am honored to be selected for this fellowship and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the legislative process,” said Ms. Kamami, a senior Political Science major (and a minor in International Studies) from Smyrna. “This experience will enrich my academic studies and support my dedication to public service.”
Ms. Pepper-Hicks, a senior Political Science/Sociology dual major from Leonardtown, Md., said she is stimulated by the meaningful policy research she is doing in support of the legislative process.
“My experiences at Del State have prepared me for this fellowship through the outstanding Political Science and Sociology departments,” Ms. Pepper-Hicks said. “My mentors have aided me through different challenges across my academic career, and I am extremely grateful to have them in my corner, pushing for my success.”
“These fellows represent the excellence of DSU students and the impact of applied learning,” said Patrice Gilliam, Provost and Chief Academic Officer. “Their roles as Legislative Fellows allow them to deepen their understanding of governance while serving the people of Delaware.”
