Graduation Spotlight: Logan Miller Reflects and Looks Ahead
This article is part of DSU’s Share Your Graduation Story series.
For Logan Miller, the dream of becoming a doctor wasn’t just a childhood aspiration — it was a calling. Raised in Milford, Delaware, Miller set her sights on medicine at a young age, inspired by a supportive family and the unwavering encouragement of her late grandmother.
“Reach for the stars, baby, I know you can do it,” her grandmother, affectionately known as Mom Mom, would often say. That phrase, Miller says, became a mental anthem during difficult times — especially when academic pressure and personal expectations felt overwhelming.
“My siblings have always been my number one supporters,” Miller said. “They’ve been my pride, joy, laughter and shoulders to lean on.”
Miller is set to graduate from Delaware State University on May 8, marking the culmination of a journey she says began in elementary school. Her graduation is not only a personal milestone, but a tribute to the family members who carried her through — particularly her grandmother, who passed away in June 2021, just 20 days after Miller’s high school graduation.
“Her passing gave me even more motivation to become the person little me would be cheering for,” Miller said. “I know she’s watching from above.”
Now preparing to take the next steps toward medical school, Miller says she owes her strength, resilience and success to her family’s “unconditional tough love and endless support.”
“I wouldn’t have become the woman I am today without them,” she said. “They’ve been here for me every step of the way.”
The pre-veterinary science major hopes her journey inspires others to hold on to their dreams and to never underestimate the power of believing in yourself, especially when others believe in you, too.
