Inspired Day of Service

9:00 a.m. Opening Ceremony, Memorial Hall Gymnasium

9:45 a.m.  Depart on buses to community service projects (boxed lunches provided for students)

  • Wilmington, DE:  Bellevue Community Center - Volunteers will be turning over the soil in their community garden to prepare for planting. The vegetables grown in this garden are often the only fresh vegetables this community receives. Volunteers will also clean and disinfect all the toys, books, and shelves inside the community center.
  • Dover, DE:  Lights-On Dover Strong - The Lights-On Dover Strong Program is a community driven plan that provides simple energy efficiency lighting measures to deter criminal activity on a block by block basis. Volunteers will communicate with residents about the benefits of energy efficiency lighting, install an LED light bulb on the front porch and a motion solar light fixture on the back of each client’s home, and perform a quick client satisfaction survey about the program.
  • Georgetown, DE: Habitat for Humanity Restore - Volunteers will stage furniture, price items, move things from and to storage, and clean. This is a good opportunity for those who want a behind the scenes view of non-profit work and management.
