Department of Human Ecology

The Department of Human Ecology, a unit in the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences, is committed to the land-grant mission of the university, which is excellence in teaching, research and outreach. The Department offers three undergraduate programs: Food and Nutritional Science (FNS curriculum), Textiles and Apparel Studies (TAS curriculum), and Consumer Sciences (CS curriculum).
The Department promotes diversity by recruiting students from international and under-represented groups. Graduates are trained to be innovative and creative, and prepared to enter the job market in positions related to marketing consumer goods and services, developing and improving products and services, ensuring food safety and optimal nutrition, and caring for and supporting the needs of children and families. A Baccalaureate degree is conferred upon completion of a minimum of 123 hours of course work.
