Military Appreciation Month

Delaware State University Celebrates Military Appreciation Month: Honoring Service, Sacrifice, and Community

At Delaware State University, It All Matters - and this May, as we observe Military Appreciation Month, we come together to celebrate and honor the service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of our military community.

Why Celebrate Military Appreciation Month?

Celebrating Military Appreciation Month is more than just a symbolic gesture—it’s a meaningful acknowledgment of the significance of service and sacrifice. It’s an opportunity for our community to unite in appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy, thanks to the dedication of our military personnel.

This month, we invite you to join us in expressing our deep gratitude for the brave men and women who selflessly defend our freedoms and way of life. We also understand that behind every uniform stands a person—a son, daughter, parent, or friend—who makes daily sacrifices to safeguard our nation and its principles. It is our privilege to honor their courage and commitment, and to ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten.

The military has a profound impact on our community, both locally and globally. Dover Air Force Base (DAFB) is not just a base; it’s an integral part of the fabric of Dover and the surrounding areas. Its service members, and the servicemembers representing all other branches and their families, enrich the diversity and vitality of Delaware State University and the broader community.

As the most diverse Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and a proud military-friendly institution, DSU is uniquely positioned to serve and support our service members, veterans, and their families with a satellite location on the Dover Air Force Base (DAFB).

There are countless ways to show our support during Military Appreciation Month. Whether through volunteerism, donations, or simple acts of gratitude, each gesture contributes to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our service members and their loved ones. We encourage everyone to find a way to give back and show their appreciation.
