Student Employment Pay

Greetings DSU Student Workers and Supervisors,

If you are currently approved and employed as a DSU student worker, please read the following information

  • Federal Work study students - The Office of Postsecondary Education has released a statement regarding interruptions of student-related activities related to the Coronavirus. In this message, they address making Federal Work Study (FWS) payments for disaster-affected students. In this statement they include:

“Federal law includes a provision allowing an institution to make FWS payments under certain limited circumstances…. For students enrolled and performing FWS at a campus that must close due to COVID-19, or for a FWS student who is employed by an employer that closes as a result of COVID-19, the institution may continue paying the student Federal work-study wages during that closure if…. Graduate students who are paid FWS wages on salary may continue to be paid for the remainder of the term if the institution is also paying its faculty and staff during that period.”

  • Research students who are hired under a grant-related fund such as Sponsored Programs, Title III, and Foundation must consult with their Supervisor or Principal Investigator regarding continuous of pay if you will work from home. All other research students who are still working on campus will continue to receive pay.
  • Students being paid under all other funds such as Departmental, Student Government Association, and Restricted Funds, if your supervisor allows for you to work from home, you will continue to receive pay. Please consult with your supervisor for further instruction.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Student Employment Office via email at aclarke [at] desu.edu.

Sincerely,
