Life after College Part I: Grad School

Students will learn more about their options in preparation for graduate school (scholarships, graduate exams, and preparation).

Praxis Workshop

Whether you are taking the Praxis I Core, the Praxis II Elementary Education, Praxis II Middle School Math, Praxis II Mathematics, or Praxis II Science, our testing professionals will teach you the key content and testing strategies you need to pass.

The Praxis workshops will examine relevant practice test questions and subject matter review, so you will learn how to apply your knowledge to the specific question types you are most likely to encounter on the exam. Free and Open to the public…DSU students priority seating.

All participants must call ext. 6144 to reserve a seat. All sessions are held in the Thomasson Building, Multipurpose Room 202C.

SAT/ACT Prep Workshop

Testing Services and Programs will be offering 2017 online ACT prep via Blackboard starting Feb 11th 2017.

Workshop candidates must login weekly for training 3 to 4 times a week. The workshop cost will be $100.00 and must be paid for by check. Please make the check out to Testing Services and Programs.

The SAT prep workshop will be conducted on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on:  March 4, 2017

LSAT Prep Workshop

This workshop will include test-taking strategies.

Workshop candidates will examine relevant practice test questions and subject matter review, so you will learn how to apply your knowledge to the specific question types you are most likely to encounter on the exam.

GED/ABE Soft Skills - $65

Whether you are taking the Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies or Science our testing professionals will teach you the key content and testing strategies you need to pass.

The GED/ABE Soft Skills prep workshop will be conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Tuesdays from 9:00am- 11:00am.

All workshops dates are for organizations and businesses. Sessions have a 3-month minimum with an open enrollment contract.

CRITICAL THINKING: TOOLS FOR TAKING CARE OF YOUR LEARNING AND YOUR LIFE

Do you strive to become a fair-minded person with intellectual humility and strong critical thinking development?

Hone your critical thinking skills in a holistic environment that provides a strong foundation for the lifelong application of critical thinking skills.

FEE: $45. Minimum of 5. Maximum of 25.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION: HOW TO HANDLE SITUATIONS IN THE WORK

Conflict is a common and natural part of any workplace. It is not always a bad thing if we can understand the nature of conflict and how to take advantage of it.

This workshop will provide some important tips for resolving workplace disputes and reconstructing team- driven atmospheres.

BUILDING YOUR FINANCIAL ACTION PLAN

Imagine big plans (build your dream house, create a retirement pension plan or a college fund) for the future?

If you want to achieve these goals, it is time for you to build and manage financial plan wisely.

This workshop will help you understand the importance of financial management as well as provide you with necessary tools and strategies to meet your goals.

Getting Connected for Student Success

University College, Testing Services and Programs, is here throughout the semester to provide testing strategies workshops covering exclusive problem-solving techniques and test-taking tips facilitated by our certified testing personnel. Our certified education diagnostician facilitates all test prep workshops. The workshops focus on test taking strategies and critical thinking application skills. Students will be introduced to systematic approaches to answering application and analysis-level questions. Students will learn how to break each question down and identify common traps. Students will also learn tips to help develop test-taking skills for before the test and during the test, as well as develop endurance techniques to help them finish strong based on accredited resources. All workshops will be held in the Thomasson building, suite 202C. All programs are open to the public.
