Informal
Drop-in
This program is designed to meet the needs of individuals
who desire to participate and workout on their own,
according to their personal schedule preferences. Participation
involves minimal organization or formal structure.
Racquetball court reservation, personal fitness, aerobics,
swimming lessons, and challenge courts for pickup games
on a drop-in basis are the backbone of the informal
drop-in program. Students, faculty and staff are eligible
for the informal drop-in program facilities and services
during a variety of times. |

Recreation
Club Programs
Recreation clubs have been established on the DSU campus
and surrounding areas. Club members have an opportunity
to receive instruction from beginner to highly competitive
levels. The club's participation can be a purely recreative
experience or an experience in perfecting a sports
skill which enables the participant to compete in state,
regional or national competition. Individuals may participate
in clubs such as chess, bowling, golf, handball, volleyball,
soccer and 405 lb. weightlifting club. These are great
contributions of a sport club program, yet the greatest
contribution of the sports club program is the help
and support available to assist in learning and establishing
lifelong skills and interests. |

Health
and Fitness Program
Fitness activities are available for students, faculty
and staff. Everyone is encouraged to participate to
increase or maintain their present levels of health
and fitness. All of the IM sports facilities provide
the opportunity to work out individually or in small
groups through many fitness activities. Possibilities
include running at the track, or indoors at the gym.
Try the campus fitness walk, IM Shapeup Aerobics (regular
impact), fitness room, self defense classes, and swimming
lessons at Memorial Pool. The weight room offers free
weight opportunities. Nautilus/fitness work-out rooms
are available at the fitness room, Memorial Hall. |
