Intramural
(Competitive) Program General Information
A variety of opportunities and experiences for students,
faculty and staff interaction in dynamic sports situations
may be found in the Intramural program. Recreational
and competitive sports are available for all: unskilled,
skilled, handicapped and participants from all backgrounds
and nationalities. Individual, dual and team sports
are offered each term and are open to men and women
desiring personal involvement with sports on a non-varsity
level. In addition to men's and women's competition,
co-recreational activities offer a unique quality
of joint participation in sports which promotes enjoyment
of activity and fosters camaraderie between men and
women within a dynamic sports program. The IM competitive
program includes 12 team and individual sports involving
approximately 50 teams and 500 participants.
Teams
and individuals imply their acceptance
of the rules and regulations established
to govern sports and activities when
they elect to participate in the Intramural
Sports Program. There are specific rules
and regulations which take precedence
over the policies and rules listed in
this handbook. They are included in the
information packets given to each team
manager or individuals prior to participation.
Extra copies of rules for each sport
or activity may be obtained from the
Intramural Office, Room 142. |
