HBCU-UP


Did you know?

HBCU-UP stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Program. It is a nationally-recognized program funded by the National Science Foundation, geared towards enriching the education of students attending HBCU’s and pursuing careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (or STEM) disciplines. At Delaware State University these majors include:  Agricultural Science Biology/Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Forensic Science Mathematics, and Physics/Pre-Engineering.

Programs and resources available through the HBCU-UP Project include:

  • Summer Bridge Program (for incoming freshmen STEM majors) Summer 2006 will be held from July 9 – August 12
  • Peer Mentoring and Tutoring
  • Undergraduate Student Research with a Faculty Research Mentor
  • Faculty Q&A (Questions-and-Answers) Sessions
  • Peer Group Study Sessions
  • Assistance researching Summer Research Internships
  • Assistance searching graduate schools
  • Use of a state-of-the-art computer lab and study rooms in the Science Resource Center (Wm C. Jason Library, 6th floor)
