General Recruiting Information

On-Campus Recruiting (OCR)

The On-Campus Recruitment (OCR) program is an excellent venue for employers to connect to faculty and students, convey career opportunities, benchmark industry initiatives, and impart knowledge and experience in their area of expertise. OCR is also a wonderful networking system to promote internships, focus on specific majors, and target opportunities in geographic regions. Employers may also request to visit classrooms and lecture halls to share company perspectives, labor market trends and profile emerging career options.

OCR begins in October and ends in April. Organizations are required to select their recruitment dates by creating a new user name and password or logging on as a return user to MonsterTrak's InterviewTrak® at http://www2.monstertrak.monster.com/cgi-bin/emp_home.pl . Employers may also review student resumes, post job openings and showcase their business on this site as well. Please contact Robin Roberts or Lisa Dumpson at (302) 857-6120 or for assistance.

Careers Exploration Day

The Career Exploration Day (CED) is held in October for Fall semester and in March for the Spring semester. Dates are determined in conjunction with the University campus-wide calendar. CED is designed for employers to share internship and permanent employment opportunities within their organizations with Delaware State University collegians at every grade level so that students may best prepare themselves to be marketable, exceed employer expectations and to efficiently transition from the classroom to the formal occupational setting. Employers can also make requests through Career Services to coordinate times in the classrooms where they present their company and industry highlights to the student and faculty body.

In collaboration with Career Services Cooperative Education program, e mployers are encouraged to form consortiums with faculty during CED to schedule times throughout the school year where collegians have coordinated classroom and on-the-job training sessions. This collaboration will also assist in developing experiential, active and engaging classroom instructions that will enable collegians to realize their full leadership potential along with the talent to understand and embrace workforce diversity, elements of change, effective communication and performance systems. Such a realization is essential in the process of selecting the career opportunity which will advance students' personal growth and professional development. Employers may view more information on the Co-op program at http://www.desu.edu/special/cpp/coopertive_education.php.

Spring CED date: March 13, 2008 in the Memorial Hall Gym from 10:00am – 2:00pm. Park in Lot 1 on main campus.
