A NEW STUDENT CENTER COMPLEX

DSU has completed a three-phase building project that has dramatically enhanced student activities, provided the campus community with new fitness and weight-training facilities and a top-notch student union.

Phase I: State-of-the-Art Strength and Conditioning Facility

In 2007, DSU completed the construction of the first phase–a NCAA Division I-A level Strength and Conditioning Facility for the University’s intercollegiate student athletes. While the Strength and Conditioning Facility is specially designed for our dedicated student athletes, the 54,000-square-foot Wellness and Recreation Center is designed for the rest of the DSU and local Dover communities with our state-of-the-art equipment and programming.

Phase II: Wellness and Recreation Center

DSU opened the newly-constructed Wellness and Recreation Center  in July 2009 and is now offering community memberships. The completion of the Wellness and Recreation Center was the end of a two-phase, $21.4 million construction project. The center includes basketball courts, an elevated running track, many fitness areas, and a swimming pool.

Phase III: Student Union

The student union replaced the 40-year-old Martin Luther King, Jr. Center.  It includes the Hub (campus convenience store), post office, an expanded bookstore, fast-food dining facilities, and a seating area for 200 individuals.  There is also a game room on the second level as well as a club area that will accommodate evening entertainment events. The student union also houses a spacious commuter lounge.
