Bernice Whaley is a proven business development & logistics executive with over 25 years of retail supply chain experience and several years of business consulting experience, prior to her current role at DEDO. Beginning her career at Happy Harry’s Drugs Stores, Bernice was instrumental in growing Happy Harry’s first warehouse into two Distribution Centers and was appointed Vice President of Distribution & Inventory Management. In 2006, Bernice skillfully directed the closing of the two distribution centers, as a result of Walgreens acquisition of the company. After Happy Harry’s sale, Bernice joined Karabus Management and worked on several consulting engagements for national retailers in the US and Canada. Currently, Bernice serves as Deputy Director for the Delaware Economic Development Office.
Bernice is a graduate of University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Marketing Management, received her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Wilmington University and is currently completing her doctoral work in Business Administration. Bernice is Board Chair-Elect for Junior Achievement of Delaware and serves on the board’s Leadership Council. In addition to Bernice serving as a member on the Advisory Council of the Dean of the College of Mathematical, Natural Sciences and Technology, she served on DSU’s Blue Ribbon Commission. She also currently sits on DSU's Strategic Planning Council. She is a member of the Delaware Workforce Investment Board’s Strategic Planning Committee, Advisory Committee member for the Center for Industry Research and Workforce Alignment Delaware Tech and Program Advisory Committee for New Castle County Vo-Tech.
