Arbor Day Celebration

Thursday, May 3, 2012 - 9:30am to 5:30pm

Governor Jack Markell and the Delaware Forest Service will recognize Delaware State University as Delaware’s first Tree Campus USA® during the 2012 Arbor Day celebration at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012 in the Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Student Center  Lobby.  This designation was given to DSU after an extensive approval process by the Arbor Day Foundation.  During the event Governor Jack Markell will present awards to the winners of the Delaware Forest Service's annual Arbor Day Poster Contest.  

All are invited to attend the recognition ceremony followed by the planting of several trees around the MLK Student Center.  Light refreshments will be served.   Following the ceremony, staff members from the Claude E. Phillips Herbarium will offer a guided Campus Tree Walk showcasing the current DSU campus trees.  For more information, contact Vita Pickrum, associate vice president for Development, at 302.857.6055.
