Capabilities


State-of-the-art imaging and spectroscopic equipment on a fee-based service;

Providing training to student researchers on use and application of quantitative imaging and laser spectroscopy techniques and analysis;

Development of novel optical technologies in collaboration with OSCAR research groups.

  Imaging Equipment

Confocal laser scanning microscope:

Leica DM 5000B TCS-SP5 upright Microscope. Equipped for multicolor acquisition (up to 4 channels). 405, 457, 477, 488, 514, 532 and 633 nm laser excitation lines.

Features: Bright field, transmission, fluorescence, Z-stack, time-lapse, FRET, FRAP

Two-photon / confocal scanning microscope:

Zeiss BioRad upright single and two-photon microscope. Cw laser excitation: 405, 488, 568 and 630nm laser lines. Two-photon excitation with femtosecond Mira.

Features: Bright field, Z-stack, time-lapse.

Fluorescence and DIC microscope:

Olympus IX71 widefield inverted microscope. High sensitivity camera (Photometrics QuantEM 512C), Computer controlled motorized stage

Features: Multi-channel epi-fluorescence, phase Contrast, bright field, DIC, Z-stack and timelapse.

Widefield Polrization microscope:

Olympus BX53, polarizing microscope with upright geometry. Q-imaging camera.

Features: Polarization Contrast, bright field and timelapse.

Atomic Force Microscope:

Bruker Innova SPM AFM system, with 5 um to 90 um area scanner.

Features: Contact mode, Tapping Mode, STM, Lateral Force Microscopy, Phase Imaging, Liftmode Magnetic Force and Electric Field Microscopy, Surface Potential, Liquid Imaging in contact and tapping mode

Cross correlation spectro-fluorometer:

ISS K2 phase + modulation spectro-fluorometer

Features: Steady state and time-resolve fluorescent emission and absorption measurements

Transmission Spectrophotometer:

Varian Cary 100 BIO spectrometer for UV-visible light.

Features: Absorbance and transmittance, referenced measurements, multiple scan option

Analysis power station and analysis software:

DELL T7600 Eight core 3.1 GHz, 128 GB RAM, 6 GB nVIDIA Quadro 6000 graphic card

Analysis software: Imaris, Metamorph, Matlab, Avizo, free analysis and home-developed analysis software / routine
