The Delaware State University Board of Trustees proudly invites you to the Installation Ceremony of Dr. Harry L. Williams on Friday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Hall Gymnasium. Please refer to this website for a complete listing of all inauguration events scheduled to take place from Wed., Sept. 15 through Sat., Sept. 18.

Hotel Accommodations

The Fairfield Inn and Suites is the official Inaugural Hotel. The hotel is located at 655 N. DuPont Highway, Dover, Delaware 19901. The hotel is less than one mile from the main campus of Delaware State University.

To book under the DSU Inaugural Package there are 2 options:

  1. Book your reservations online at www.marriot.com/dovfi. Under “Check Rates and Availability,” enter your check-in and check-out dates. Under room packages, select the DSU Inaugural Package.
     
  2. Call Marriott Reservations at (888) 236-2427 and ask for Fairfield Inn in Dover, Delaware, or call the hotel directly at (302) 677-0900 and ask for the DSU Inaugural Package.
     

Inaugural Kickoff Lecture — a focus on research
Michael N. Liebman, Ph.D.,  president and managing director of Strategic Medicine, Inc., will speak on "Personalized Medicine: Challenges, Opportunities and What it Means to You."

DSU faculty showcase the University's extensive research portfolio.

Alumni Art Exhibit and Reception
Meet alumni artists and view their diverse works of art. 

Exhibit runs 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. daily Sept. 1-18
Meet the Artist Reception: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Employee Recognition Ceremony—Celebrating Service
This ceremony will feature entertainment and the distribution of service awards for employees with 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35+ years of service at Delaware State University. The new “Inspire Awards” will also be presented. Entertainment by the June Evans and Mercy City.

Installation Ceremony

 

10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
DSU, Memorial Hall Gymnasium (overflow accommodations in the Theatre, Education and Humanities Building and the Longwood Auditorium in the Bank of America Building)

Witness the Inauguration of Dr. Harry L. Williams as the 10th president of Delaware State University. The University’s tradition of Convocation will also be included. This ceremony will feature special guest speakers, the DSU Concert Choir, the Approaching Storm Marching Band and more. 

Investiture Reception

Immediately following the Installation Ceremony
Outdoor basketball court area between the Memorial Hall Gymnasium and the MLK Student Center (Rain location: Wellness and Recreation Center)
Free and open to the community.

An Evening of Inspiration (Black Tie - optional)

Celebrate the new presidency of Dr. Harry L. Williams. An exciting evening awaits you with entertainment by featured artist Karen Somerville, jazz and blues vocalist, accompanied by the Joe Holt Trio. Festivities will also include a silent auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, gourmet desserts and more.  Proceeds will benefit DSU student scholarships.

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Place: DSU, MLK Student Center, 2nd floor Parlors

Side-by-Side Community Pride
The students of Delaware State University will conduct community service projects to show their pride in DSU and the surrounding community. The students are inspired by the enthusiasm and leadership of Dr. Harry L. Williams. DSU  faculty, staff and alumni can also participate.
