Minimum SAT: 800 (math and critical reading scores combined)

What are the required high school courses to be considered at DSU?*
| English | Writing, Literature and Oral Communication | 4 Units |
| Mathematics | Courses must include Algebra I & II and Geometry or the equivalent (recommend a fourth higher math course) | 3 Units |
| History | One (1) world history and one (1) other history | 2 Units |
| Social Studies | Civics, American Government, Economics, Geography or Psychology (two units recommended) | 1 Units |
| Science | Courses with a laboratory. Must include one (1) or more of the following: Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics | 3 Units |
| Foreign Language | Recommend within the same language. If within the same language, there must be course progression. | 2 Units |
| Electives | May include any additional class from subject areas listed above or Art, Theatre/Drama, Music and/or Computer Science | 4 Units |

What is the application process?
Your application will not be reviewed until ALL of the following documents have been received by the Office of Admissions:
- Completed application (Applying online is faster and easier.)
- Official transcript(s)
- SAT/ACT scores
- $35 non-refundable application fee (You may pay by credit card, over the phone - Cashier's Office - (302) 857-6220, or by sending a check or money order to the Office of Admissions.) We accept fee waivers from the College Board and NACAC ONLY. Contact your guidance counselor to find out if you qualify for either of these fee waivers.
When is the application deadline?
DSU accepts applications on a rolling basis (applications are reviewed as they are received until there are no more spaces left). However, it is recommended that students apply by February 1st for the fall semester and November 1st for the spring semester.

Are letters of recommendation/essays required for applicants?
No, they are not required for Undergraduate applicants. However, applicants are welcome to submit them.

When do applicants receive an admission decision?
It usually takes about 2 weeks from the date an application is COMPLETE with all required documents to make a decision. Students will receive their admission decision in the mail 8-10 business days from the date the decision was made. Times may vary depending on when you apply.

How do I schedule a visit to campus?
Scheduled tours are available Monday – Friday (and some Saturdays depending on the time of year). You may register at www.desu.edu/tour or call 302-857-6347 to schedule a visit.

Do you have athletics?
The Hornets compete in NCAA Division I. DSU is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Is financial aid available?
Yes. Greater than two-thirds of our students receive assistance based on need, including Delaware State grants. The financial aid process at DSU primarily consists of federal funds. You are required to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid – www.fafsa.ed.gov) to be considered for financial aid. For priority consideration for additional funds (if available and applicable), complete and submit your FAFSA on or before March 1 for the fall semester and on or before November 1 for the spring semester.

Are scholarships available?
Yes. Admissions awards merit-based scholarships to students who meet the requirements. Students do not apply for these scholarships; they are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and are based on a combination of the student’s test scores and GPA.

How many students attend DSU?

Student composition:
DSU students come from all three Delaware counties, from 35 of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Virgin Islands and about 28 other nations. The fall 2010 enrollment was 50% in-state and 50% out-of-state. Students living on campus comprise 58% of the total enrollment, while 42% commute.
