 Dr. Sessoms Accepts Presidents Post at the University of the District of Columbia
Dr. Allen L. Sessoms announced Aug. 13 that he is accepting the chief executive post of the University of the District of Columbia. In leaving Delaware State University after a little more than five years, Dr. Sessoms said serving as the institution’s president has been a fulfilling experience. “DSU has progressed tremendously and we can all be proud of the improvements academically, infrastructure-wise, in athletics and in the image of the University,” Dr. Sessoms said. “As a result, we have enjoyed a significant increase in the visibility of the institution over this period and its future looks great.” Dr. Sessoms’ final day as president of Delaware State University will be August 31. Dr. Claibourne Smith, Board Chairman, has been appointed to serve as Acting DSU President effective September 1. Since his arrival as the ninth DSU president on July 1, 2003, Dr. Sessoms has guided the University to higher levels of excellence through numerous accomplishments. Click here for the full article.
