Upon completion of this program of study, graduates will be prepared to plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum at the secondary level based on the developmental characteristics of adolescents and characteristics of learners with varied exceptionalities; demonstrate knowledge of characteristics of various categories of mildly/moderately disabilities; plan and manage the teaching and learning environment; select and implement age-appropriate assessment tools, diagnose learning needs, and evaluate individualized education plans; manage and monitor student behavior and social interaction skills; demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of special education; plan a culturally responsive program that effectively communicates and collaborates with parents, teachers, and the educational community.
