Upon completion of this program of study, graduates will be prepared to apply acquired knowledge of characteristics of various categories of mild/moderate disabilities; plan and manage the teaching and learning environment; select and implement age-appropriate assessment tools, diagnose learning needs, and evaluate individualized education plans; manage and monitor student behavior and social interaction skills; demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of special education; and plan a culturally responsive program that effectively communicates and collaborates with parents, teachers, and the educational community.
