Bowling for Delaware State is a challenge for every new freshman. Not only are you learning to deal with going to class and bowling practice several times a week, but you also must learn to work with an administrative system that is understaffed and overworked. This situation presents unique challenges for all new students, not just athletes, as they experience this reality check. However, nothing is ever just one way. Delaware State is a university that cares about it's students, is in a beautiful setting in a capital city, and I am prould to claim it as my alma mater.
As a high school senior who is interested in attending DSU, you must be ready to work hard and have a positive attitude. You must be ready to give up your holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break) for your sport. You must be ready to be away from home for the entire semester and know you won't be able to go back to visit on weekends. You absolutely must have school spirit and be ready to volunteer to help with football and basketball games. Finally, you must be willing to come to Delaware State with the attitude of what you can bring to DSU to improve this university, and not the mistaken assumption that this university owes you.
If you are not willing to accept these challenges, then please do not waste your time filling out this form. You will be much happier somewhere else. But if you are a strong, intelligent, mature young woman ready to endure certain sacrifices to make your mark on this university, to be part of a winning bowling program, and to be a contributing alum, then you are exactly the type of student-athlete that I need and I would be proud to have you on my team. By sending me your contact information, you are telling me that you are up to this challenge and that you are ready to be a Hornet.
