DSU's Youth Enrichment Summer Camp
DSU Youth Enrichment Camp
DSU's Youth Enrichment Camp is an unique camp devoted to early academic and special interest. DSU's Youth Enrichment Camp provides programs that will cultivate life skills for both personal and academic success. This program will build and enhance self-esteem of our participants.
DSU's Youth Enrichment Camp is a day camp that offers the following programs: Robotics, Culinary Arts in the Hospitality Industry, Art & Etiquette, Computer Graphics for Juniors,. These programs are one week camps that will run over the course of eight weeks.
CAMP DESCRIPTIONS:
Culinary Arts in the Hospitality Industry
Culinary Arts in the Hospitality Industry is a Hospitality and Tourism Management Summer Program for middle school students. The goal is to expose (through “hands-on” activities) middle school students to careers in culinary arts and hospitality management. Participants will develop, plan and prepare food items, based on restaurant themes. Design and set up specified place settings, using chinaware, based on the restaurant themes. Explore “back of house” restaurant operations, to include design, equipment and set-up. Conduct cost analysis of food pricing, and design, set up a “culinary cuisine” for a family of four. Art and Etiquette:
The arts provide youth with the opportunity to engage their hearts, minds and bodies. It can enhance creativity, self-discipline and foster self-esteem necessary for other areas in life. This camp will be a hands-on art experience which will educate children in the various art forms while building a lifelong appreciation for the arts. This cultivation will be supplemented with pearls of wisdom about etiquette, equipping each young participant with information about proper conduct and protocol in various social situations. This week-long exposure to a cultured life-style will culminate in an “Afternoon Tea”/Art Exhibit on the last day of class where each student will be able to implement the lessons learned.

Computer Graphics for juniors:
Learn the basics or hone your existing skills using PhotoShop, Illustrator and Painter. This full day camp will have your youngster begging for more time to show off their design skills. Sample projects include-Mock Webpage Design; Photo Restoration; Digital Landscape Painting; CD Cover Design, Character Building and much more. For Grades 6 and Up.

WeDo Robotics (Rising 1st-3rd grade)
Does your child enjoy creating imaginative projects such as animals, buildings or machines? If so this simple robotic tool will allow students to build and design their own robot using LEGOS. This program uses a drag and drop software to manipulate the robots. Students will be using WeDo to perform various experiments and activities. This program will stimulate student’s creativity, teach them basic hands-on and teamwork skills, expose them to elementary computer programming and provide them with a sense of accomplishment.

MindStorm Robotics (Rising 4th-8th grade)
Do you want to give your child a jump-start on a high paying, fun career in the future, all while they are having fun? The LEGO Mindstorm is a perfect way to do just that. The LEGO Mindstorm series kits contain software and hardware to create small, customizable and programmable robots. These robots will perform various tasks from a robotic competition. This program will allow students to develop skills in science, mathematics, technology, and engineering. Students will develop basic trouble-shooting, problem-solving and critical thinking, while promoting teamwork, cooperative learning, and computer programming skills. For grades 6th-8th
