Roy Ayers

As the undisputed Godfather of Neo-Soul, vibraphonist and vocalist Roy Ayers is one of the best-known and highly respected jazz/R&B artists on the scene today.  Born Roy Edward Ayers, Jr. in Los Angeles, CA on September 10, 1940, music has always been in his genetic makeup with his mother, Ruby, being a local piano instructor and his father, Roy Sr., being a trombonist.  Roy’s musical career has spanned more than 50 years as an award-winning jazz vibraphonist and popular R&B bandleader who continues to be in great demand today.

Javon Jackson

Tenor saxophonist Javon Jackson came into international prominence touring with the legendary drummer Art Blakey as a member of his band, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. Javon symbolizes a new generation of musicians that blend tradition with neo-jazz. Javon has released 14 recordings as a bandleader and can be heard on at least 135 recordings with jazz greats such as Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Betty Carter, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Donald Byrd, Bobby Hutcherson, Curtis Fuller, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Stanley Turrentine and many more.  Currently, Javon is the Director of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz/The Hartt School at the University of Hartford.

Point Blank

Aside from a stirring batch of impeccably performed compositions that push the boundaries of smooth jazz to incorporate true jazz improvisations along with a strong global consciousness, two things stand out with Point Blank:  1- a refreshing spiritual approach and 2 – a contemporary groove that keeps the listener engaged. As an eight-man band out of the Philadelphia area, the sound of Point Blank (Steve, Dorden, Jerry, Kerry, Paul, Winston, Raleigh and Gerald) blends jazz, R&B and inspirational vocals in a refreshing, distinctive manner that reflects the diverse influences of each band member.  The rich group dynamic of these seasoned musicians allows them to create compelling tracks by grafting a variety of textures into their unwavering jazz foundation.
